"Laundry POS" means subscription software for laundromats and wash & fold shops. "Delivery marketplace apps" means apps that pay laundry businesses a share of each order. Figures come from those providers' own published pricing pages, checked on October 5, 2026. Plans vary by provider and change over time, and some providers quote by store instead of publishing prices.
If the apps are free, how does suds make money?
Fair question. Here's every way, and who pays for each.
A commission your customer pays
When a customer orders through your website or the suds app, a platform commission is added to their total. It is never taken from your price. You're paid 100% of the price you set, plus tips and your add-ons.
About 7¢ a sale
We make roughly 7¢ a sale, however your customer pays. On cash and own-Stripe card sales, the till adds 7¢ to the walk-in's total, and we bill what it collected to your card on file, in blocks, after your first 99 free sales. With suds card processing, there's no separate fee: after card fees, servers and running costs, our share of the processing charge works out to roughly the same.
Optional placements
Posting in the suds Connect Marketplace is free right now: equipment for sale, jobs, services, industry deals and the vendor directory. Every listing is reviewed before it goes live. Networking, groups and support are free.
Free in early access
Route planning costs us real money per route, so after early access suds Delivery will be $9.99 a month per store using our Google route planning, or $4.99 with your own Google Maps key. It never blocks your orders, only the driver app.
Card payments: your Stripe or ours
| Option | What it costs |
|---|---|
| Your own Stripe account About ten minutes to connect | Card sales go straight to your Stripe account at your own Stripe rates. The till adds 7¢ to the customer's total on every sale. |
| suds card processing Works right away | 3.99% + $0.45 is added to the customer's card total. It covers Stripe's card fees, our servers and running costs, and leaves us roughly 7¢ a sale, so there's no separate per-sale fee. You receive the full sale plus tax, paid daily. |
Either way, we make roughly 7¢ a sale, and the customer pays it, never you. Standard payouts on the 1st and 15th are free; daily payouts are optional at $0.99 a transfer.
The first 100 businesses never pay the POS fee
The first 100 laundromats and Laundry Pros to join suds get the per-sale POS fee waived for the life of their store. Ask us when you sign up.
Claim a founding spotOur pricing advice
Your price drives your success, and we're not charging you for online orders. So we recommend keeping your online price the same as in store, or even a few percent lower while you build online volume. Your customer pays our commission on top, so a lower price keeps your total competitive.
Bring your own. Here's what works.
We don't sell hardware or tie you to a bundle. For the till, you buy the equipment yourself, and we'll tell you what works with it.
The till
A tablet or phone running sudsHQ (or suds Staff for your team), on the same network as your printer and scale. No card reader needed: customers pay by QR code, or you type the card in.
Label & receipt printer
We recommend an Ethernet-connected 80 mm thermal printer. It prints the customer receipt and the bag label on every sale. Your phone's print sheet works in a pinch.
Weigh scale
An Ethernet-connected scale sends the weight straight to the till. Open Weighing Scale on the sudsHQ Account tab to see the supported models. We keep adding more. No scale? Type the weight.
No more nickel-and-diming small businesses.
Laundromats and Laundry Pros are small businesses. Most software makes you pay per store, per user and per text, then holds back delivery or a customer app for a pricier plan. We'd rather earn a little on each order than charge you for the tools.
Not every tool fits every business. So we built the must-haves, made them free, and let you use only what you need.
Integrations
Next, we're working on integrations with other players in the laundry industry, so suds works with the equipment and services you already use. Releases are announced in suds Connect first.

Are the apps really free?
Yes. sudsHQ, suds Staff and suds Connect cost nothing a month, with no setup fee and no contract. suds Delivery is free during early access; after that it will be $9.99 a month using our route planning, or $4.99 with your own Google Maps key. suds makes money from a commission your online customers pay, a small fee on POS sales (also added to the customer's total), and optional Marketplace listings and promotion.
Do I pay a commission on online orders?
No. The commission is added to the customer's total. You're paid 100% of the price you set, plus tips, add-ons and the pickup & delivery fee.
Who pays the POS fee?
The walk-in customer. On cash and own-Stripe card sales, the till adds 7¢ to the total, and after your first 99 free sales we bill what it collected to your card on file, in blocks. With suds card processing there's no separate fee: our roughly 7¢ comes out of the processing charge on the customer's card, after costs. The first 100 businesses on suds never pay the per-sale fee.
Can I use my own Stripe account?
Yes. Connect it in sudsHQ under Payments in about ten minutes, and card sales go straight to your account at your own Stripe rates. Or use suds card processing, where 3.99% + $0.45 is added to the customer's card total.
What hardware do I need to buy?
Only what you want for the counter: a tablet or phone, an Ethernet-connected 80 mm label printer, and an Ethernet-connected scale if you sell by the pound. The supported scales are listed in sudsHQ. You don't need a card reader.
How many staff and drivers can I add?
Up to 50 staff and 50 drivers per store, free. Invite them from sudsHQ by phone number.
Where do I get help?
In suds Connect. Every release, training and support answer is posted there, where you can also ask other owners and Pros. You can also contact us.
